Basque-inspired is a Spanish style of preparing food, especially grilled meat. Basque style steaks are extra-thick from grass-fed beef and grilled in-bone over an open flame. Asador Bastian’s menu also includes Basque style Pintxos, which can be enjoyed as an appetizer finger food eaten with toothpicks.

Asador Bastian opened in 2023 in the stately “Flair House” corner home that was built in 1883 in Chicago. It’s not the only Illinois steakhouse to make the “best of” list, but it was THE best. Also included on the list is Bavette’s Bar and Boeuf. Swift and Sons, Gibson’s Italia and Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse, all of which are in Chicago. They all have different styles and methods, and all serve up fine cuts of steak.
