It's been about a year since I wrote about Leland and Owen. They are two brothers that were in foster care right here in Indiana, and they just wanted to be adopted together. I'm so happy to see that they are no longer listed on Indiana's Waiting Children list. But there are more sets of siblings that want to be adopted into loving families together.

We often share stories and fundraising opportunities from organizations like Isaiah 117 House Vanderburgh County and Borrowed Hearts Foundation. Both nonprofits work with children and families in foster care. There's a story behind every child in foster care, and these sets of siblings simply want to be adopted together.

Adoption Process in Indiana

Now that we have all fallen in love with these wonderful children, it's time to find them the perfect family. According to the Indiana Adoption Program, there are very specific steps that you will need to follow, in order to be eligible to adopt a child in the State of Indiana.

Training Resource and Adoptive Parent Training is required of all families wanting to adopt from foster care in Indiana. Home Study The home study is part of the family preparation process and is designed to help your social worker learn more about your ability to parent and provide a stable home. Recommendation Upon completion of your training and home study, your agency will present your home study to the Indiana Adoption Council to be considered for Recommendation. Matching If a family is determined to be a good fit for a child, the child will be placed with that family for a minimum of 6 months, before proceeding to finalize the adoption.

Cops Connecting With Kids Disney Adventure 2023

Thanks to fundraising efforts and generous donors, the 2023 Cops Connecting with Kids Disney Adventure has added another Evansville, Indiana school. That makes a total of ten area schools awarding select students with the trip of a lifetime.
