The study, conducted by the financial website WalletHub.com, is less about the results (grades, etc) of each state's education, and more about the level of schooling attained and the quality of education available in each state.

Some states are able to provide better quality education than others, though. In this study, WalletHub compared all 50 states across 18 metrics that examined the key factors of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality, and achievement gaps between genders and races.
Kentucky is the 44th Least Educated State
Once all of the data was collected and people who are smarter than me did all of their calculations, Kentucky ended up at #44 on the list (which is down one slot from 2024's study). The Bluegrass state ranked 45th in Education Attainment and 27th in Quality of Education. Another metric worth noting is that Kentucky has the 46th lowest percentage of Bachelor's degree holders.
Indiana is the 40th Least Educated State
The Hoosier state scored slightly better than our neighbors across the river, coming in at #40 on the list (the same ranking from 2024). Indiana ranked 41st when it comes to Educational Attainment, but interestingly ranked 10th in the country in the category of Quality of Education.
