One of the Best Thrifting Cities in America is Located in Indiana

Thrifting in America appears to be more popular than ever, and according to this report, that is especially true here in the Midwest. As the father of two teenagers who love to go thrifting, I am all for it. We make regular visits, both to drop-off and shop, at the many thrift stores in our area. And just like with any type of business, some cities are better than others. It turns out that Indiana has one of the best cities for thrifting in the country.

Thursday, August 17th is National Thrift Shop Day, and to celebrate all of those amazing secondhand items we have found over the years, LawnLove.com released a report that lists the best thrifting cities in America. The report compared the 200 biggest U.S. cities and ranked them in the following five categories:

General access
Clothing
Access to antiques
Furniture
Local interest

One Indiana city cracked the top 15 and actually ranked in the top five in a couple of categories. The city I'm talking about is our state capital - Indianapolis - which ranks as the 14th best thrifting city in America.

Why Makes Naptown So Thriftastic?

The popularity of thrifting in Indianapolis basically boils down to one thing - accessibility. There are more thrifting opportunities there than just about anywhere else. In fact, Indianapolis has the 5th highest number of flea markets and the 2nd most Goodwill outlets in America. Indy also ranked 3rd for furniture and 9th for access to antiques, so I guess you don't have to look too hard to find some fun secondhand items.
