Holiday World Seeking Your Favorite Memories and Photos from the Park
This is a milestone year at Holiday World in Santa Claus, Indiana. The beloved amusement park is celebrating its 75th anniversary and they're looking for your help in doing it. The park wants to read your favorite stories through the years and see your most cherished Holiday World and Splashin' Safari photos and memories.
I have been going to Holiday World for forty years. Truly. Of course, when I first started going the park was called Santa Claus Land. I have a couple of favorite memories. I remember going to the park with my grandparents shortly after Frightful Falls opened to the public in 1984. By then, the park had changes its name to Holiday World. At the time, we were huge fans of Opryland, which had that amazing log ride Flume Zoom. So, we were pumped Holiday World was getting a log ride of its own. I still remember my very first ride on it.
And, of course, one of my favorite memories of the park involves a ride that's no longer there. I wasn't a big fan of roller coasters when I was a kid (clearly something I have outgrown in a BIG way). However, in the 4th of July section of the park, I was able to conquer that fear a bit with Firecracker. Remember that ride? It looked like a roller coaster that someone put together out of a Lego set. LOL! But, as a kid, we thought it was EVERYTHING!!
And, get this. A couple of years ago at the Kentucky State Fair, we basically rediscovered the ride! Check this out. I am 99% certain this is the same coaster (or at least an updated version of it).
If you have memories, photos and the stories behind them you'd like to share, Holiday World invites you to help celebrate the 75th Anniversary season by UPLOADING THEM HERE! The park will be incorporating those memories with celebrations throughout the season.
Holiday World officially turns 75 on August 3rd, 2021.
