The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has made it's way to the Tri-State and found it's way to me and Jimmie after Gibson Southern football coach, Nick Hart accepted the challenge and passed it along to us.

This is not the first time we've been "called out" for the challenge. I was personally nominated by a friend and former co-worker who now lives in Florida, while Jimmie and I were nominated as a team by one of our sales people here at the office.

Since the phenomenon of the Ice Bucket Challenge began a month or so back (the ALS Association notes July 29th as the start date), donations have topped $79.9 million as of August 25th. The amount raised during that same time frame last year? $2.5 million.

Regardless of your thoughts on the challenge itself, the numbers prove that it's working when it comes to raising awareness for horrific, debilitating disease, and it's my turn to chip in.
