How to Get Your K-9 Trading Cards

Be sure to stop by the EPD K-9 booth at the West Side Nut Club Fall Festival! This is the only place to collect these limited-edition trading cards. Not only will you grab some fun souvenirs, but you'll also have the opportunity to meet the K-9s and their handlers in person. Learn about the important roles they play in keeping Evansville safe, and catch a live demo of the dogs in action.

A Proud History of Service

The Evansville Police Department’s K-9 program began in 1982 with four German Shepherds trained specifically for patrol duties. Over the years, the program has expanded to include a team of ten K-9 officers. Today, the unit consists of seven dual-purpose German Shepherds that handle both narcotics detection and patrol work. Additionally, the team includes two single-purpose narcotics detection dogs (one Shepherd and one Labrador) and one Labrador specialized in explosives detection.

Behind the Scenes: What It Takes to Be Part of the K-9 Unit

Becoming a K-9 officer is no easy feat. It’s a volunteer program that requires a rigorous screening process for officers who want to join. Commitment is key, as officers not only train extensively with their canine partners but also care for them as part of their families. The bond between handler and dog is crucial to their success in the field.

Don’t Miss This Unique Experience

Whether you're a fan of dogs, local law enforcement, or just love collecting cool memorabilia, the EPD K-9 Unit trading cards are a must-have this year. Swing by the booth, meet the K-9s, and take home a little piece of Evansville's finest!
