Flights Into and Out of Evansville Regional on Hold Due to Power Outage
This has been a very chaotic start to a busy travel weekend in the Tri-State. Numerous power outages have been reported causing traffic issues and a major delay at Evansville Regional Airport.
It has been one of the stormiest days of the year. I have lost count of the thunderstorm watches, warnings, and now flood warnings that have been issued by the National Weather Service.
How are Flights at Evansville Regional Airport Affected?
Our friends at EvansvilleWatch shared pictures and first-hand accounts of what travelers are experiencing at Evansville Regional Airport. The power is out at the airport, which is extremely rare. This is causing flights to be canceled and some folks were stuck in a plane after landing. Another person reported that a family member was on a flight to Evansville, but that planed was directed to go back and land.

Had to deplane outside. TSA had to hold doors open. There was absolutely no power. We walked up stairs and TSA had to hold open security doors as well.
CenterPoint Outages
As of 12:30 PM CDT, CenterPoint Energy is reporting 12,912 total customers that are without power.
Slow and Steady
It appears from new comments on social media that the power is back on at Evansville Regional Airport. That is great news! However, employees are all playing catch-up and the storms are not over yet. If you are flying or picking someone up from the airport today, check the Flight Tracker site and your airline for updates.
