Why Has this Evansville Grocery Store Been Closed for Two Days?
I had to make an emergency stop at the grocery store last night and discovered some interesting business news.
The Emergency
Last night I realized that we were out of cinnamon rolls. It was already dark, so I did not feel like going too far, but this is one thing that my teenager will eat for breakfast. So, I popped in the North Green River Road location of Crossroads IGA. It's super convenient to just grab a few things here and there.
I noticed that there were three work trucks in the lot, but I assumed they were filling the gas pumps or something. But when I got to the automatic door, it did not open. I peeked in the window, but I couldn't see any employees or customers. In my defense, there were other cars in the lot.
Then I noticed a sign on the door noting the reason why they were closed:
'ATTENTION!!
This location will be closed Monday, November 13 & Tuesday, November 14 until 12pm noon. This is due to a transitionary period between companies after a buyout.
Apologies for the inconvenience!'
Looking for Clues
As you can see in the photo that I took, Crossroads IGA is sharing the makeshift sign with On The Fly, formerly known as Chuckles. The same signage was on the sign facing the street.
This is certainly getting to be a busy part of Evansville. The Casey's convenience store that is being built across the street is progressing quickly. Perhaps this is a new partnership between Crossroads IGA and On The Fly. Either way, I really hope that the grocery selection remains about the same.
