Locally Owned Evansville Bakery Announces Permanent Closure
After years of bringing fresh-baked goodness to the Evansville community, Great Harvest Bread Co. has announced its permanent closure at the end of 2024.
A Legacy of Bread and Community
Great Harvest Bread Co., a staple in Evansville, Indiana first hinted at change back in October 2021 when the original owners decided to sell the beloved bakery. After briefly closing, the bakery found new life in June 2022 under fresh ownership. Since then, it has continued to serve up its famous breads, pastries, sandwiches, soups, and more while creating a sense of community for loyal customers.
Closing Chapter: When and Why
The bakery’s current owners recently announced their decision to close permanently as their lease comes to an end. While the news comes with a heavy heart, the owners shared their gratitude for the community’s unwavering support throughout the years.
The final day of operation will be Monday, December 23, 2024, when all remaining Christmas orders and pickups will be fulfilled.
A Fond Farewell
From signature baked goods to its warm, inviting atmosphere, Great Harvest Bread Co. has left an indelible mark on Evansville. Its closure marks the end of an era, but also serves as a reminder of the impact small, locally owned businesses have on their communities.
