After a string of car thefts on the south side of Evansville, local police are reminding residents to keep their doors locked no matter where they live.

Victims of car thefts around the area have reported valuable and personal items have been stolen from their cars lately, but Evansville police have pointed out most of their cars have been unlocked.

According to a 44News report, one woman said the theft cost her her job. She said within minutes of leaving her car, the thieves stole hundreds of dollars worth of dog grooming equipment.

If you see anything suspicious, make sure to phone police. Until then, keep car doors locked at all times and take valuables inside with you before you retreat for the night. s
