Duncan the Deaf Dog is Looking for a Loving Forever Home
The Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS) in Evansville has pets of all shapes and sizes. Or, as Executive Director Kendall Paul likes to say when she stops by the studio on Thursdays, "all makes and models, and all certified pre-owned." They also have them of all ages, from puppies and kittens that are weeks old to dogs and cats that have been around for a while. So there is an excellent likelihood that the VHS will have a pet that fits your lifestyle!
Meet Our VHS Pet of the Week
DUNCAN is a 2-year-old mixed breed who may not hear the world around him, but he has no trouble making connections. Born deaf, this sweet and silly boy is incredibly smart and is learning hand signals to help him navigate the world.
@my105.3 DUNCAN is our Fursday Pet of the Week with the @vhslifesaver. DUNCAN is a special boy who deserves a home that will give him the love he deserves. #adoptdontshop #adoptadog ♬ How Sweet (Instrumental) - NewJeans
DUNCAN gets along well with other dogs who are patient and accommodating to his special needs. All he needs is a little patience, lots of love, and someone with an open heart. DUNCAN is ready to show you that the best conversations don’t always require words. Sometimes, all it takes is a wagging tail, a goofy smile, and a loving gaze.

DUNCAN is free to adopt through Saturday, October 3, so you can take this handsome boy home for FREE! Come meet him and see if he’s the perfect match for you!
More About the Vanderburgh Humane Society
The VHS was founded in 1957 to protect homeless animals, intervene for animals in abusive environments, and provide community education to encourage prevention of animal abuse and pet overpopulation. Located in Evansville, Indiana, the VHS serves as a surrender and adoption agency for unwanted pets. The VHS receives no tax-based funding whatsoever. Therefore, it depends on the generosity of the corporate community and the public at large to continue, and hopefully expand, the much-needed services it offers.
