On April 8th, 2024, the moon will stage a dramatic disappearing act, plunging downtown Evansville into complete darkness for over 3 glorious minutes.
Witness the awe-inspiring phenomenon of a total solar eclipse, an event so rare it'll leave you speechless (well, at least until the sun returns!). Join the epic viewing party hosted by the Downtown Evansville Economic District along Riverside Drive. The roads in that area will be closed to traffic for unobstructed celestial vistas. Don't miss your chance to experience this once-in-a-lifetime spectacle under the Evansville sky.

As tempting as it might be to stare directly into the eclipse, you should not do that. You will want to be prepared with the proper solar eclipse glasses. There are reputable businesses selling glasses with the proper protection. If you have a valid EVPL card, you can pick up a pair from the library - While supplies last.
