Only Three Domestic Violence Shelters in Indiana Allow Pets and One is in Evansville
Imagine that you are in a very bad relationship, and you know that you should leave. But if you leave, you will lose your beloved cat or dog. So, you stay - Risking your own safety and sanity.
That may not sound very logical but it is an unfortunate fact that happens every day. Nearly half of domestic violence victims decide to stay with their abuser rather than give up a pet.
Nearly 50% of domestic violence victims stay in abusive relationships because they are afraid to leave their pets behind.
This alarming statistic highlights the critical need for shelters that welcome both people and animals. Thankfully, Albion Fellows Bacon Center in Evansville, Indiana is one of just three shelters in the entire state that allows residents to bring their pets when seeking safety.

Bob calls Albion home. He gets plenty of love and food, but baths are not really his thing. Our friends at Carvers' Groomery usually only welcome dogs, but they made an exception and gave Bob a spa day.
