Late last year, we shared news here at WBKR about a new monument being erected at the Daviess County Courthouse.  It's the Daviess County First Responder Memorial, which pays tribute to local first responders who have fallen in the line of action.  The official unveiling and dedication of the new memorial is, appropriately, set for September 11th.

The initial plan was to unveil the monument during Police Week, which falls in May.  However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic forced organizers to alter their plans accordingly.  It will now be officially dedicated on Friday, September 11th, an incredibly fitting date for the reveal.

This project was made possible by the generosity of Daviess County Judge Executive All Mattingly and the Daviess County Fiscal Court.

As you can see from the official flier for the dedication, the monument pays tribute to local firefighters, police officers and EMTs who "gave the ultimate sacrifice."  Featured speakers for the program are TBA and we'll share that information with you as soon as the program is finalized.

The dedication ceremony is open to public.  Attendees are encouraged to wear masks and socially distance.
