2 Indiana Cities Rank in Top 10 Safest and Best Places to Live in U.S.
Indiana Shines in National Rankings
My first thought was to write about the two Indiana cities that ranked in the top 10 on the list of SAFEST Places to Live in the U.S., recently published by U.S. News and World Report. That's great news, right? Well, as I was looking into that story, I quickly realized that those two cities also made the top 10 of another important list - the BEST Places to Live in the U.S.

Carmel, IN, landed at #2 on the BEST list, and #7 on the SAFEST list, while Fishers, IN, came in at #4 on the BEST list, and #6 on the SAFEST list. You can't deny how impressive that double win is - and even if you don't live there, you have to admit that it's nice to see Indiana in the spotlight for being one of the best places in the nation to plant your roots.
Carmel: A Midwest Gem with Big-City Charm
Carmel has been known as one of the Midwest’s gems for a long time. Aside from being the roundabout capital of America, it also has a thriving arts district and an award-winning dining scene. Carmel offers an upscale yet inviting lifestyle. And of course, the city’s consistently low crime rate makes it one of the safest spots in the entire country.
Fishers: Family-Friendly and Full of Fun
Fishers is located just northeast of Indianapolis, and has built its reputation as a family-friendly city with top-notch schools, growing job opportunities, and plenty of ways to enjoy life outside of work. Fishers boasts over 131 miles of trails, splash pads, disc golf, and outdoor concerts.

It’s not every day that two cities from the same state crack the Top 10 in both safety and livability rankings. That means Fishers and Carmel aren’t just “nice places to live” - they’re nationally recognized communities where people thrive.
