It’s been seven years since we last saw/heard from demigod Percy Jackson.  There have been rumors circulating off and on that he would have his own T.V. series.  Luckily, those rumors have proven to be true.

This past week the author of the books, Rick Riordan, took to Twitter to announce that, yes, Percy Jackson will get his very own show.

“After a lot of hard work and a lot of support from you guys Percy Jackson is coming to Disney Plus,” said Riordan in his video announcement on Twitter.

There was also a follow-up tweet to kind of clear a few things up for already very happy fans.

“Hey Percy Jackson Fans, for the past decade, you’ve worked hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation of Percy Jackson’s world…We can’t say more at this stage but we are excited about the idea of a live-action series of the highest quality...”

He went on to say that the series will follow the original storyline of the books and will be kicked off by the first book in the series “The Lightning Thief”.  So, basically you can guess that there will be five seasons to the show.  Another big question that was answered was will the author be involved creatively?  That answer is a resounding yes!  In the same follow-up tweet, Riordan stated that he and his wife, Becky, would be “Involved in every aspect of the show”

I have to say I am very excited about this news.  I’ve always been a fan of Greek mythology and the Percy Jackson series does a great job of making the subject interesting for young and older readers alike.  You throw in the fact that Disney is behind this project and I think you will have yet another big hit on your hands.
