Alexis Berggren to Step Down as President & CEO of Explore Evansville

Explore Evansville has announced that President and CEO Alexis Berggren will be stepping down to embark on an exciting new career opportunity. After nearly three years of leading the organization, Berggren is set to take on the role of General Manager at the Charlotte Convention Center in North Carolina.

A Legacy of Growth and Success

Under Berggren's leadership, Explore Evansville achieved several milestones that have had a lasting impact on the community. The organization attracted over 354,000 visitors to the region, bringing in more than $69 million in economic impact. Some of her key accomplishments include the expansion of the Evansville Sports Complex by 100 acres and welcoming riverboats back to the city's shores.

Berggren also played a pivotal role in hosting significant events, such as the first-ever IHSAA State Championship in Evansville and the highly anticipated 2024 Total Solar Eclipse, which drew tens of thousands of visitors to the area.

A Smooth Transition Ahead

While Berggren will officially step down in December, she is committed to ensuring a smooth transition. Explore Evansville’s Board of Commissioners, led by Chair Ali Hashemy, has expressed gratitude for her visionary leadership. "She has laid a strong foundation for continued growth, and we are confident the organization will build on the momentum she helped create," said Hashemy.
