Stretch of State Road 662 in Newburgh Closed for Tree Canopy Work

Getting into the Newburgh riverfront from State Road 662 will be a bit more difficult today (October 24th, 2018) as crews will shut down a sizable portion to begin work on removing a tree canopy in the area.

According to the Newburgh Police Department, that portion will be from Ellerbush and Frame Roads (or from the Casey's General Store east to the St. John's Catholic Church Food Pantry).

The closure will begin at 8:15 a.m. and continue until 4:30 p.m. It's expected to be completed by the end of the day today, however could carry over into tomorrow if necessary.

Newburgh Police say detour signs will be posted, but encourage drivers to avoid the area altogether by using State Road 66.
