Even Simon Cowell hopes that the boys of 1D will put the "one" back in One Direction and reunite.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight Tuesday night (August 14), the American's Got Talent judge opened up about the possibility of a One Direction reunion following their 2016 disbandment.

"I just think the legacy is too big not to go back to at one point. Plus they have enough songs. I didn't realize how many hits they've had... When they do get back together it will be a huge event," Cowell shared.

"But look, they're all doing their own thing and they're all being successful. But I have a feeling it will happen. I really do. I'd love it to happen," he added.

Cowell, who helped form One Direction—comprised of Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik—back in 2010 when all five boys were on X Factor, hinted that a reunion could simply be a series of shows.

"Individually they were all great," he said. "The group was the launchpad, but, of course, everyone would love to see them back together, even if it was just a series of concerts."

Does Simon Cowell know something we don't know?
