I'm a big fan of musical theater, and one of my very favorites is getting the 'live' treatment this weekend. RENT is the next production to be brought to life on network TV, this Sunday on FOX!

The Tony Award winning musical from 1996 is based, loosely, on Puccini's opera La Bohème. It tells the story of a group of 'starving artists' in early 1990s New York, struggling with, among other things, paying their RENT. In addition to their careers, they also struggle with old and new relationships, and the effects of the rising AIDS epidemic. It is essentially a love story, and a beautiful, powerful, moving story at that.

I could go on and on, but I won't. I'm just saying...my wife and I have seen RENT twice in the theater...we saw the movie back in 2005 and then bought the DVD...and we've worn out the soundtrack on road trips!

Below are the trailers for the new live version and the 2005 theatrical release. Do yourself a favor and give it a look.
