Christmas is over which means that tree you put up in the corner of your living room to serve as the focal point of your holiday decorations is now nothing more than a dying fire hazard. Thankfully, the Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District is giving you the chance to send that tree back to which it came during their annual Holiday Recycling Day on Saturday, January 7th.

Representatives from the Solid Waste District will set up shop in the old Walmart parking lot on University Drive on Evansville's west side from 8:00 a.m. until Noon to take that tree off your hands.

Larry Caplan with the District, speaking with 44 News on Wednesday, says the trees will be given to a local tree care company who will toss them into a wood chipper and distribute the resulting mulch free of charge.
