National Night Out Brings Evansville Together With The Police Dept
I love the idea of National Night Out! I love the idea of bringing the community together WITH the police department.
My passion for this event is driven by how parents portray the police to their children. I have heard parents say to their child, “If you don’t listen, I am going to call the police on you.” (Or something along those lines) ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? This is not ok.
I want my kids to see the police as their protectors and allies – because that is what they are. When we see an officer, I talk to my kids about they work hard to keep us safe and I ask the kids to thank them. I don’t want there to be a barrier between them.
So, take advantage of this great event at Wesselman’s Park, Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and help bridge any gaps between our kids, our community and law enforcement.
The Evansville National Night Out event will be held at Wesselman Park on August 1, 2017, from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts; strengthen neighborhood and police partnerships; sending a positive message to criminals that the neighborhoods are fighting back.
Residents from the forty-three neighborhoods will lock their doors, turn on outside lights; spending the evening with neighbors and police in a variety of activities at Wesselman Park. The success of National Night Out is due to the strong cooperation between the neighborhoods, police and the positive help from you, our neighborhood businesses and organizations.
This is FREE for everyone! For more information call Linda at (812) 435-6115.
