According to the Health Department, this is the first time the virus has been tested positive this year. So what is being done about this?

This Sunday, crews will be out fogging the area where the West Nile activity was found. The spraying will be within an area bound by Covert Avenue, Vann Avenue, Pollack Avenue and South Boeke Road in Evansville.

This might cause some concern to folks in the Tri-State as West Nile can be very serious. The Vanderburgh County Health Department advises you to limit your time spent outside between dusk and dawn. Other things that you can do to help fight off mosquitoes include spraying yourself with repellent, wearing light colored clothing, pants, and long sleeves, when possible. With it being so hot and muggy outside, it's understandable to not want to wear long sleeves and pants, so be smart and safe outside. If mosquitoes are overwhelming, don't chance it.

As of now, this is the only report of the West Nile in the Evansville area. If other cases arise, we will forward that information on to you
