The Evansville Police Department is hosting National Night Out tonight at Wesselman Park, and you're invited!

The free event, taking place from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. is one of many in cities across the country designed to build a better relationship between police departments and the communities they serve. The goal is to get everyone on the same page in an effort to reduce crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone.

Tonight's event will offer free food, games, and fun for the entire family while also giving the public the opportunity to speak with members of the Evansville Police Department's K-9 and Meth Suppression Units, as well as the S.W.A.T. team about issues of concern in their neighborhoods. There will also be a children's firefighter's course and rope rappelling. Plus, the Department's new soda blaster, designed to remove graffiti without needing to repaint a structure, will also be on display.
